Auto Insurance Claims: Find out what insurance carrier somebody uses, sheldon arizona, motor vehicle department

Question
I was hit by an elderly driver who refuses to give me his insurance information. He gave me his name & address and told me he won't report this accident to his insurance co. I didn't have my cell phone and he wouldn't call the police. Then he left. The police told me as long as he gave me his correct name, address & telephone number, he complied with the law in AZ. I've given the info to my insurance company but he won't tell them who he is insured with either. I'll get my car fixed ($4200) with my collision but this just isn't right. How do I find out who he is insured with.

Hi Sheldon,
Your own insurance should be able to secure this information from DVM by telephone on the same day of the request.  Ask them.

Hi Sheldon,
Arizona is a mandatory insurance state and requires that the owner of a vehicle submit proof of insurance within 30 days of registration and keep proof on file as long as he owns a vehicle.
I see no reason why your own insurance company can not call the Motor Vehicle Department and secure this information.
I hope this has been of help, please write again if you have more questions.
Your feedback by rating my answer will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
