Auto Insurance Claims: rear ending incident, speed impacts, inch gash

Question
I was at a stoplight and accidentally rear ended the car in front of me when the light turned green (stupid me...I spaced out about the van in front of me).  I was about 2-3 feet behind the van (I was in a smaller car) and hit it's trailer hitch.  When we pulled into the parking lot, I didn't see any damage on his car but my front bumper had a 3 inch gash. Now, the driver has contacted me, claiming that he has knots in his back and needs a Swedish massage (instead of a chiropractor??) and that some cap is missing from the hitch.  What is the likelihood that my insurance company is going to hold me accountable to his "back injury"? I really wasn't accelerating fast at all and am not sure if it's even possible to have back pains at such a low speed impact.  I've filed a claim, but would appreciate any feedback to maybe ease my worries for the time being.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi T.N.,

Just let your insurance company handle everything. Insurance company are used to dealing with low speed impacts as well as people who are just trying to scam some money. They will investigate and decide what if anything his claim is worth and will get him to sign a release form before that pay him anything. Don'y worry, all will be fine.

I hope this helps
