QuestionI'm moving to southern CA from Florida in a few weeks. My current policy doesn't renew until March. If I don't notify my insurer of my residency change until my policy renews in March, would my claim be denied if I get into an accident? Premiums are much higher in CA, and I'd like to wait until March if I can. Thank you.

You will need to immediately notify your insurance company of the change of address.
California Law requires that you secure a California Drivers License and California License Plates for your car within 30 days of your arrival or within 10 days of securing employment, whichever comes first.
California has a very strong mandatory insurance law and your insurance company will be required to do an electronic filing of proof of insurance with the Department of Motot Vehicles. This way, any police officer can punch your license plate number into his computer and immediately confirm insurance coverage.
Depending on your location in Florida and exactly where you locate in southern California, you may find that the rates are very similar.
