Auto Insurance Claims: HIT AND RUN, auto insurance info, plate numbers

I recently got in to a accident, i hit i guys car from behind scuffing his car a bit, we got out exchanged numbers and he told me not to worry about it and it was ok,then we both drove off. about i week later i get a call from his insurance company asking about an accident that day, we never exchanged info at all. What should i do now? we never exchanged plate numbers or any auto insurance  info nor where the cops called, what should i do????

Hi Mike,

You did provide him with your name and phone number. You were at fault for the accident and are responsible for any damage however minor it may be. You should call his insurance company back. They will ask you to provide a statement of what happened in the accident. You should also contact your insurance company to report the accident and provide the other drivers name and phone number. You insurance company will then contact him for a statement. If liability is clear your insurance comapny will pay for the repairs to his car.
