Auto Insurance Claims: DWI, existing company, priors

Question
I was convicted of 4th dg. DWI in Minnesota in August 2005.  My insurance has never increased.  I carry only liability but am considering financing a newer car with full coverage.  Can I expect my insurance company to eventually discover my crime, and increase rates, or is it likely they know already.  I'm 34 with no priors, speeding tickets, anything in years.

Answer
Hi Mark,
Many insurance companies only run a check on your driving record if you have filed a claim, so it's unlikely they are aware of the DWI.  By switching insurance company's. the new company will run a check on your driving record prior to quoting a rate and quote a humungous rate for coverage.
You will be better off to stay with your existing company.
