Auto Insurance Claims: Hit by a semi truck, fault insurance, request reimbursement

We were recently hit by a semi truck on a family trip. We happened to have all 5
of us in the car, luckily, there were no injuries. However, we would like to see if
we can be compensated in any fashion as we have been out of vehicle for 6
weeks! We are new to this arena and really are not sure if anything can be gained
out of it for us or not.

Hi Sarah,

The at-fault insurance company is required to either reimburse you for a rental car during the repairs of your car or pay you for loss of use. If you have rented a car simply send them the bill and request reimbursement. If you did not rent a car you should write a demand letter requesting paiment of $15.00 per day from the date of the accident until the day you get your car back.
