Auto Insurance Claims: Minor accident, no damage noticed at time of accident, repair estimate, minor accident

Question
I was in a minor car accident.  I was backing out of a spot going around 2 MPH and another person in the opposite row of cars (a few spots down in the direction that I was backing out) was backing out as well.  My car collided with her car, right between the front wheel and drivers side door.  At the time of the incident, we both concluded that there was no damage.  Two days later she said that there are some dents that she just noticed.  What should I do?  How do I know that it was me hitting her that caused the dents?  We did not call the police and have not yet contacted our insurance companies.  I am going to meet her to look at the damage.  Her estimate says it will cost $1500 to fix.

Answer
Hi Derek,

Go ahead and meet the lady. Look over the repair estimate carefully. If it seems correct for the damage then unfortunately you will have to either pay it yourself or turn in a claim on your insurance. You may ask her to go with you to another body shop for a second opinion of the costs.

I hope this helps
