Auto Insurance Claims: reinsuring a car that has been totaled, auto body shop, salvage title

Question
I recently hit a deer in NC. My insurance co is totaling my car and has offered 2 options. One to keep the car and the other to sign title over to them. This state totals a car at 75 percent of value. The car is in great mechanical condition and I would like to keep it. How do I go about getting it insurable after it has been repaired. I would like to know if I do not choose the auto body shop who gave the estimate to do the repairs, can I have anyone else do it. Thank you.

Answer
You can likely have any shop do the repairs but do remember that you will have a salvage title.  The state may need to inspect the vehicle to determine if it is roadworthy and then they can issue a rebuilt title.

You can still have the car covered for liability, but not likely comp or collision.
