Auto Insurance Claims: car accident, stop sign, insurance companies

i borrowed my brothers car without asking him and i got into an accident. the accident was practically my fault,i missed a stop sign. i explained everything to my brothers insurance company. they recorded me telling how the accident happend. they also asked me if my brother gave me permission to take the car. i answered no i just took it without letting him know. why would they ask me that? would i get in any trouble for saying that? would my brothers insurance cover the accident? or would i have to pay for the accident? would i be sued?

Hi Mike,

You should not worry. All insurance companies ask these questions. If you do not live with your brother the damage will be covered. If you do live with your brother and were not listed on his policy, they may deny the coverage because you are supposed to be disclosed to the company.
