Auto Insurance Claims: True or false?, hosehold, licensed drivers

Question
My roommate has full coverage from Geico.  I am un-insured, but have a valid license.  I heard that if she lends me her car, and I get into an accident, that it will still be covered.  But I also heard that it wouldn't be.

Answer
Hi Shauna,

The answer is no. Most insurance policies require that all licensed drivers in the hosehold be disclosed on the application and the appropriate premium paid. If later additional drivers move into the household, you have 30 days to add them to the policy.

If neither of these is done then the insurance company will deny coverage because they were not informed about the additional driver.

I hope this helps
