Auto Insurance Claims: Claims Question, replacement vehicles, insurance company

Question
I was in an accident and was not at fault.  I feel that the insurance company isn't giving me a fair value for my car (which was deemed as a total loss).  Can I have the insurance company replace my car with one that was in the same condition, and if not how can I get them to offer me a more reasonable value for my car?

Answer
Hello Matt,

The insurance company is only required to pay you the fair market value of your vehicle. They do not locate or provide replacement vehicles.

You should research values at the following;

1) www.nada.com
2) www.kbb.com
3) www.edmunds.com
4) www.autotrader.com

The last one will let you fing currently for sale vehcile like yours in your area. You should pring out all of the information you find and if the values are higher than the insurance company is offering, send them your info to try to negotiate a higher value for your car.

I hope this helps
