Auto Insurance Claims: insurance, juris doctor, family matter

Question
Im 17 years old and my mom called 3 insurance and what we want is that my paprents want me to be in the insurance but they say i got to be 18 years old is that true

Answer
Hi Joseph,

It is almost always the case that teen drivers are included on their parents' policy if they are driving a family car.  If you are trying to have your own car, then that will not work, as the agents said.

But if you are just to be a driver on the family car, I do not know of any company that will exclude you, UNLESS your record is so bad that they will not insure you.

But of course I do not know that, nor do I know what insurance companies they called.  Why don't you call some companies and ask them yourself?

Maybe this is a matter to discuss as a family matter in case your parents are trying to keep you from driving.

Best wishes,
