Auto Insurance Claims: To File or Not, stock stereo, rule of thumb

Question
My truck was recently broken into and the stereo stolen.  This is the second time in just under a year.  The first time, the stock stereo, 2 laptops and some accessories were stolen.  This time it is a high end navigation system worth about $2k, so I'd like to file a claim, but I'm concerned that too many claims will cause my company (USAA) to drop me.  Are theft claims considered my fault, or is the rate of theft factored into my locality?  Is there a good rule of thumb for when it is "worth it" to file?

Answer
Hi Russ,

This would be covered under the comprehensive portion of your policy. Generally these type claims do not count against you but multiple claims can.

You may try talking to your agent before making the claim. He/she may be able to tell you best.

I hope this helps
