Auto Insurance Claims: Total Loss Vehicles and Loss of Use, insurance company, insurance companies

Question
"If a vehicle is deemed a total loss as a result of an accident, is the insurance company for the At fault driver obligated to pay for loss of use? If so, is there a time frame? Thank you."

Answer
Hi Raquel,

Generally an insurance company will owe for a rental vehicle or loss of use from the date of the accident until the time they make an offer to settle the claim.  Additionally, most insurance companies wil extend this time until 3 days after mailing of the check.  Although this is a general practice, I am not aware of any actual requirement.

I hope this helps
