Auto Insurance Claims: Accident but not on Parents policy, coverage issue, ladie

Question
i was in an accident the other day with my parents car..i was not on the policy ccause they live in one state and i live in the other..and i was in town to barrow there car to go places..anyways..i was driving then hydroplaned and hit the median..20 mins later while the car was parked on the side of the road other lady hydroplaned and rear ended me..looks like its totalled to me. but now my parents insurance are saying they might not cover it cause i was not on there policy..but i was just barrowin the car for the day. what should i do? the car is fairly new..2003...should i sue the ladie that totalled it? cause wen i crash the car the first time..wen i ht the median the car was still drive able just needed a tire.

Answer
Please keep in mind that every state and insurance company may have different policy guidelines, but what you are describing seems to be a case of "permissive use" which is generally accepted as a covered situation.  From what you are telling me, you do not share a residence with your parents.  If that is the case and they gave you permission to drive the vehicle, then in most cases, there should be no coverage issue.
Good luck!
