Auto Insurance Claims: My Parked car was hit, custmer service, own insurance

Question
What do I have to deal with when my car was hit when I was asleep at home. I didnt see my car till after 10hrs after the accident. There was a police report filed and I called my insurance company to let them know about it. But im going after there insurance Allstate. Its been two days after the accident I was able to call them and they said there customer hasnt filed a claim with them yet. So the custmer service person I was talking to I had to wait a few days to have a adjuster come out to look at my car or take it to a body shop of my own. But all this would be comeing out of my own pocket. I already had to take a day off of work to try to deal with this on a Monday because the accident happend on a Saturday morning. She mentioned that they cant help me till there customer files a claim.

Answer
Hi Robert,

If there was a police report, you should go to the police station and get a copy of it. You can then send a copy to Allstate to prove that their insured is at fault. In most states the insurance company has 30 days to either pay or deny a claim in writting.

If you are not able to wait this out, you can put the claim through your own insurance company and they will fight with Allstate to get the money back.

I hope this helps
