Auto Insurance Claims: motorcycle theft, motorcycle theft, room mate

I am in afghanistan and my bike was stolen according to my room mate when i called him so i made a claim. insurance called around with questions and got to my work. work said fraud but what they think is that i added coverage to my policy in order to reclaim a past accident, policy shows that isnt true so no biggie i think. they never found out about the stolen motorcycle. i call the insurance company to see if my roommate has filled out the police report. he has not. so then they forward my info off to a detective and i have no idea what is going on with my claim!! what should i do? is this normal procedure??

Hi Adam,

Theft claims are very different than accident claims. The insurance company will always approach the claim as if you had something to do with it. There will be an investigation and the claim process could take as long as 60 days.

You need to comply with what ever they ask you for and stay on top of the process. Just be patient and all should work out ok.
