Auto Insurance Claims: late in reporting accident, mail carrier, insurance bill

Question
I was recently involved in a traffic accident.  Other driver was at fault...he ran a stop sign and hit my car on the passenger side.  At the accident, a mail carrier saw the whole thing and gave me her contact information as a witness stating that she saw the at fault driver fail to stop, didn't even slow down before hitting me.  I had just made my payment 2 days before.  If there was a lapse, will my insurance still cover me, especially since the other driver is at fault?  The other driver wanted to keep from reporting it to our insurance companies, I did report it, however I wanted 10 days.  Having waiting instead of reporting it right away, is this going to hurt me?  I'm waiting for the claims adjuster to contact me.  They say it takes 24 to 32 business hours.  Looking on line, my insurance is current on in force.  I'm with Infinity. Help!

Answer
Hi Anna,

You should be just fine.  Even if there is a problem with your own insurance, you can still make the claim directly against the at fault persons insurance company. Just wait to see what the insurance adjuster has to say.  Usually there is some lag time when you pay an insurance bill, so all should be just fine.

I hope this helps
