Auto Insurance Claims: Accident, leinholder, lienholder

Question
when you file a accident report with state farm and they agree to pay for the damanges to get your auto fixed who receives the check me or the body shop?

Answer
Hi Rose,

If State Farm is not your insurance company, they can issue the check directly to you, unless you live in the state of texas, where they are required to protect your leinholder by issuing the check either to you and the leinholder or directly to the body shop.

If State Farm is your insurance company, they are required to protect your lienholder in most states. This is done by either issuing the check to you and the leinholder or directly to the body shop.

I hope this helps
