Auto Insurance Claims: What can I expect?, rental coverage, hi chris

Question
Hello,

I'm having to pay out of pocket for an accident, my insurances lapsed a few days.  Anyways, the car was a 2001
Honda Oddysse in somewhere between excellent to good condition with about 51,000 miles.  Anyways I called the garage to find out the estimate of the damage. He's say it came to about $7800.00 and that they have already ordered the parts, so apparently the insurance company has given the nod to fix it. I called the owner of the vehicle for additional information. She was also given a rental car at
$30.00 per day for 30 days?, but she told me the repair would take about 3 weeks. In your opinion what is it all going to cost me when all is said and done? To me its seems close to totaled, yet they are fixing it?

Answer
Hi Chris,

Your scenario is somewhat confusing.  I have to assume that someone else was at fault and that you are going through their insurance company. If this is the case you should expect that they wil pay for all required repairs as well as a rental car for the entire time of the repairs. If the other person you mentioned is the at fault person, her rental coverage is limited to what it says in the policy. You however, do not have any restrictions. They must pay what ever the cost is.

I hope thei helps
