Auto Insurance Claims: four heirs and a death claim, death claim, decedent

Question
With a 25/50/25 policy, if someone is killed in an accident and liability is clear, do the heirs get 25 or 50? In other words, is there one claimant (decedent) where recovery is 25 and decedent's claim of 25 rolls to heirs, or four claimants (heirs) which would obtain 50? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Wes,

First let me say that I am sorry that someone lost their lives in this accident.

The 25/50 means that the insurance company of the at fault party will pay out up to a maximum of $25,000.00 for the injuries of any one person but no more than $50,000.00 total for all persons injured in the accident.

I hope this helps
