-----Question-----
Their are three lanes, I am on the very right lane as i noticed my lane was ending and started to merge into the middle lane. I look over my shoulder to change lanes i did not notice the car in front of me and rear ended him. And while i rear ended him it caused him to hit the guy in front of him. So it damaged the back and front of the second car and only the back of the third car. Am I responsible for the third party and the front of the second car, or is suppose to keep enough distance that in case that he was rear ended that he would not touch the other car?
-----Answer-----
Hi Tommy,

Unfortunately, you are responsible for all of it. Anytime you rear end someone you are responsible for all resulting damage.

I hope this helps

But i thought their ,as in the other car was suppose to keep enough room so that they wouldnt hit the other car?

Answer
HI Tommy,

The other driver is supposed to maintain a safe distance, but when you rear end that person and they were not expecting it, they have no way to control their car.

The resulting damage is your fault. I'm sorry but it's true.
