Auto Insurance Claims: receiving check for settlement of totaled car, state insurance commissioners, commissioners office

Question
If the insurance company that is settling for a vehicle is totaled and it has taken them more than 4 weeks to send the check to my lein holder, what can I do to get them to move faster?  I continue to call and the representative says she is waiting for the supervisor to sign off.  I have already made one payment on a car I haven't been able to use for 4 weeks not, I am afraid I will have to make another payment before they settle.  This wasn't even my fault.

Answer
Hi Ruth,

It is often frustrating dealing with insurance companies. You should get the name of the supervisor then call directly to that supervisor. This may sould like a hastle but you need to call him or her every day until it gets done. Sometimes the only way to get them to move is to become a thorne in their side.

You can also call your state insurance commissioners office to file a complaint.

I hope this helps
