Auto Insurance Claims: how long do you have to file a claim?, policy provisions, random check

Question
hi. my friend backed into my car on private property last november. i got an estimate of $700. i happened to be pregnant at the time and there seemed to be more pressing issues. she is still willing to accept liabilty can i still file the claim with her insurance company? also, we happen to have the same insurance company, will they do any type of random check on my record even it was not my fault. i had a recklous op about 1 1/2 ago and i do not want them to needlessly find this info out and my rates go up

Answer
Every state and insurance company has different laws and policy provisions regarding the time limit on claims, but generally speaking it follows the statute of limitations on property damage in your individual state.  As it's been less than a year, I'm sure you're fine.

Insurance companies don't pull driving records when a claim is presented.  They do pull driving records randomly throughout your policy period or upon renewal.  Eventually, they will find out about your ticket if they havn't already.
