Auto Insurance Claims: car accident, insurance underwriting, auto claim

Question
My daughter was in an accident which was her fault.  her car was towed.  It is a l997 sunfire.  It will probably be totaled.  If it is not, do we have to get it repaired or can we take money for repair (minus the deductible).  we want to get her a newer car since she will be graduating from college Thursday and moving to Austin to get a job.  (great timing) Also, I am afraid the insurance company will drop her since this is her third accident in two years.  If they drop her how long do most companies give you until you find insurance.  we have state farm.  Is it hard to find insurance coverage for high risk drivers?  I know it will be expensive. Thanks

Answer
I can only answer questions for you regarding the auto claim, not insurance underwriting practices as that is outside my expertise.

If it's a 97 Sunfire and had to be towed, it is going to total.  If a car doesn't total and there is no lien holder, you're free to take the money and do whatever you want with it.

Hopefully your daughter is fine and you were correct in thinking of a new car if she's going to be traveling now.
