Auto Insurance Claims: Neighbors tree fell on my car, ford 150, act of god

Question
During a storm a branch from the neighbor's tree fell on my truck that was parked in my driveway, damaging the front hood and fender.  Who should I submit a claim to; my homeowners, my auto, or my neighbors homeowners?  If I have to submit to my insurance isn't that bad for my rates?

I live in Minnesota. I have a 2003 Ford 150 pickup.

Answer
Sorry to hear about your loss.....

As the branch fell during a storm (Act of God) you will most likely NOT be able to recover from your neighbor (under his HomeOwner's liability coverage).  The exception would be IF the tree and/or the branch that fell was dead/dying and the neighbor know OR should have known that there was a good chance that the branch would fall (whether during a stom or not).

If that scenario doesn't fit then your only recourse would be YOUR auto company (not your HO company)... The loss would be covered under your COMPREHENSIVE (COMP) coverage (I assmue you have that coverage given the year of your vehicle) and subject to the applicable deductible.

Hope and trust that I have answered your questions and provided some direction.
