Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: airco not working properly, blower motor resistor, airco compressor

Question
QUESTION: I have a  2000 Chevy S-10 pickup, diesel, 4x4,2.5 TD.  The compressor, condensor and drier were replaced last year June. The blower was not replaced although this makes a noise sometimes. The airco worked a while but then started giving problems.  I had to rev quite high before the compressor came in.  After a while, it stopped working.
The blower motor resistor was replaced but still the airco does not work properly.

ANSWER: So what you are saying is that the compressor is not coming on at idle, but only at high RPM?

Have you had the refrigerant level checked?

Sorry for late replies.  This is my busy season and its 40d Celcius outside.  I will get around to answering every question but it may take me a few hours. I typically book 12-15 cars a day right now and its getting overwhelming.  Many electrical problems and difficult to find leaks!

QUESTION: Refrigerant is Ok.  What happens is that sometimes the airco compressor comes on right away and other times it takes about 10 minutes before coming in.

Answer
When the compressor is not coming on power needs to be checked at the clutch.  If you are positive the refrigerant level is ok use a test light to check ground and 12V at the plug of the compressor.  It is a two wire plug and you can place the testlight on battery ground-one side and battery positive to the other.
