Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: cadillac air conditioner, cadillac deville, mode control

QUESTION: I turn the air on and after about 10 minutes or so the air stops blowing from the vents and is coming out the defrost vent on top of the dash.  Whats going on with this thing.  My sister's car is doing the same thing.  She also has a Cadillac a year older.  Thanks

 I may be able to answer your question but will need more information.  Cadillac has been making cars since 1902.  That's 110 years of Caddy's on the road!  Lets start with year, model and go from there.

QUESTION: Oh, sorry.  That information was in my head it just didn't come out my fingers.  LOL  Its a Cadillac Deville a 1998 and my sis' is a 1999 It is also a deville.Thanks for your interest.

HI,

 That sounds like a defective mode door controller.  If you remove the lower kick panel (or explain to technician) and tap on the motor and it goes into default mode (defrost only for safety) it is the mode control motor that is defective.  Very very very common problem with Caddies.
