Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Actuator on a 2003 ford explorer, vacuum problem, selector switch

Question
Hello,   After reading some of your posts regarding heaters stuck on one mode or another,   I've concluded I should check my actuator.  I'm stuck on a defrost and front vent mode and nothing changes the airflow, but the selector switch is apparently working as it will cycle on/of the compressor when left in the right positions.

I've never had to work on an actuator before, but the problem is more of where it might be located and what it might look like on my explorer.    Can you assist at all in helping me locate it?

THanks in advance for answering all these questions by the public, I admire your effort.

Bill

Answer
Thanks Bill

I have tried to attach a picture but system does let me.  All I can tell you is that you must remove the dash in order to replace the actuator.  Let me know if you have automatic temp control or is it manual.  There is a big difference.  Manuel ac control is a vacuum problem.  Auto ac control is an actuator problem.  Let me know and I'll help.
