Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2005 Explorer w/rear ac/heat tic-tic-tic, supplemental restraint system, intermediate shaft

Question
QUESTION: My 2005 Explorer just started to make a ticking noise while on heat mode.  When I had just the vents going it did not make the noise.  Now when we turn the heat on a ti-tic noise comes from the vents in the dash.  IS this a pneumatic issue?  Do I have frozen water in the air lines? Is this an actuator issue?  Will the battery disconnect trick work in this situation?  There is heat coming out just not as efficient and all that tic-tic cant be good.  Where is the actuator located?

THX

ANSWER: HI Mark

You have an actuator motor problem.  When you go back to ac you will probably feel it.  The actuator has gone bad.  To replace on this explorer you will have to remove the dash.
