Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES AC/Heater, mitsubishi galant, 2002 mitsubishi galant

My girlfriend has a 2002 Mit. Galant. Her AC blows cold air well but the heat dosen't come on at all. I have replaced the thermerstat. But that didnt solve the problem. Other ppl are telling me that it might be her doors not opening and closing but when i turn it over to heat you can hear the sound of the doors turning..but still it blows cold air and no HEAT. this has been happning for about a year and the cold season is coming and we can not go another winter without heat. & i am also having a problem with the AC not draining. It drains into the floor board of the passenger seat. I took it to a mitsubishi reapir shop but they told me it would be $600-$800 to completly clean the air conditioner and all beacuse they would have to take the dash board off.. also they told me that her year model galant was made to were the water would come down and drip on a fram and then drain on the ground. But instead the water jus drains off into the passenger seat side of the floor. What all do i need to do to avoid spending $600 to get her AC to drain right and to fix it were she will have heat.

On the drain issue look for a rubber hose on the passenger side engine compartment near the fire wall.  You will see the hose it is a lot bigger than the hole.  If you pull that or just blow air into it this will dislodge anything that is in there.  As to the heat check for a hot water valve and make sure it is working properly.  follow the hoses from the firewall to the engine and you may find a valve that is cable driven this may not be working.
