QuestionQUESTION: I tapped on clutch with screwdriver near center,clutch cuts on,then off,steadily.In your opinion,is this clutch,or coil?can open in coil cause this behavior,or is clutch slipping?This problem started suddenly when I was pushing buttons on Electronic climate control,always operated fine before.Need to know what specific part is bad before spending money.Please send clutch removal pictures if possible.Thanks, Ray.
ANSWER: If your compressor is turning on and off then you are low in refrigerant.

QUESTION: The refrigerant pressure is good,and checked pressure switch,bypassed switch with paper clip to connector.clutch does same thing.Checked every other possible cause.Is this clutch problem?Thanks, Ray.

If clutch is slipping you will see sparks or at least hear a grinding noise. If you compressor comes on after tapping, then off then on then off then on without tapping it again then your pressures are low. If every time your compressor turns off you have to tap to turn on then your coil is bad.
