Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Dodge Ram Air Cond. Air Flow is not good., dodge ram 1500, air cond

Question
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn. I noticed Last year, when I turned on the A/C, The Air Flow felt like it was on low, but it's on Hi. Then It went back to normal.
Hmmm.. This summer 2008, The same problem occurs again, but not only the restricted air flow, you hear and feal bit of vibration in the dash or the firewall. Some people tell me it could be a door inside that is stuck. Everything works fine except That A/C fan Flow is bearly coming out.
What do you think?

Answer
Manuel,
This could very well be one of your ventilation door actuators sticking. Should it get stuck, it will not allow air to flow through the appropriate vents as well as it should. But with a stuck door, the airflow should be routed to another vent. Do you notice any air blowing from anywhere other than where you select with the switch?

But more so it sounds as if your blower motor may be going bad. The reason I say this is because of your description with the vibration, and how it took a moment to get up to speed last year. A motor with worn brushes will take a moment to get up to full speed, and then deteriorate over time until little or no motor movement is produced.

Or another possibility is that there is some foreign matter inside the evaporator housing itself that is slowing the airflow and causing the fan to be off balance causing the vibration. But if you have never had the housing off, I do not anticipate this being the fault.
I suspect that upon further investigation you will find your blower motor to be at fault. If so, I recommend you take it somewhere to have it replaced, as most replacements involve removal of the evaporator housing as well, and this can turn into a rather in depth repair involving removal of the instrument panel and portions of the dashboard.

Thank you for the question, I hope I was of some assistance. If so, please remember to rate this answer. If I can do anything further during this process or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you again and good luck in everything.
