Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC might need recharging, loose connection, cold air

Question
Hi
I have a 2003 Mitshubusi Outlander that puzzles me.  My AC light was blinking and hot air not cold air coming out vents.  I think it might need recharging.  So for a week I didn't use the AC.  So today I turned it on and cold air was coming out. Could it be low and needs recharging.
Thanks again assisting me.
Catherine

Answer
Catherine,
The only way I would be able to tell for certain as to whether your system is in need of recharging is to have your pressures. But if it is working fine now, blowing cold as it should, and remains on until you physically shut it off, then I am tempted to say no. If you open the hood and look at your compressor with the a/c on, you should see the front plate turning. If it turns, stops, turns, stops, then that is what we call cycling and is a rather reliable indicator of a low charge. Is yours doing this? Even so, it would not cause it to not work last week and this week it does.
As for why it works now, and last week it was just blowing air... I am at a loss. I have looked over your schematic, and other than a loose connection somewhere in your wiring, I am not seeing anything that would definitively cause this. If it occurs again, I would take it to a shop right then and have them look at it before it decides to work again.
Sorry I couldn't do more, but I hoped I helped at least a little. Thank you for the question, If you found this response at all helpful, please remember to rate this answer. If I can be of any more assistance now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. Good luck in everything.
