Question
Hi, I need to recharge the Ac on my 2000 ford 150 truck and was wondering which port to use. I see one next to the fire wall with agreen cap it is labled EVP service port 1 pound max regulated preasure. Is this the port I use to recharge the AC.\\

thanks

Answer
Bill,
That port should be for your emissions system. Trying to put refrigerant into that would be a very bad idea.
Your low pressure port should be located on your accumulator. This is a cylinder mounted to the firewall on the passenger side of the engine compartment with 2 refrigerant lines protruding from the top of it. It should also have an electrical switch connected to it. If I remember correctly, you may have a black plastic wiring housing mounted to the firewall directly above it. But the low side port should also have a cap on it, but it will be either blue or black in color. When you pop your hood and look, it should be fairly easy to locate.
Keep in mind though, that if you are needing to add refrigerant, then you have a leak somewhere in your system. I would recommend also putting a dye into the system so that you are able to locate it and have it repaired after you find it. Otherwise you will continue to need to recharge as it leaks out over time.
Thank you for your question and I hope I was of some assistance. If I can do anything further now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. If you found this response useful please remember to rate this answer. Thanks again and good luck in everything.
