Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C wiring problem, compressor clutch, thermal protector

Question
A/C doen't work, there's a red wire with a plug in type of tip from the A/C compressor on a 1993 Civic EX. Can you identify this wire and where it should be plugged into, (relay)?

Answer
Clifton,
I am looking at your schematic now. If you are talking about the red wire coming directly from the compressor, that should plug into a harness plug that connects to your compressor clutch relay pin #8. In between these two items, it says that you have a compressor thermal protector in the line, but this is typically built into or mounted on the compressor itself. It "should" be before this wire you are talking about.
Your compressor clutch relay should be located in the underhood power distribution box. The schematic doesn't tell me which relay in this box will be the compressor clutch relay, but you should have a diagram on the box cover or in the owner's manual.
The first thing I would do is look around the general area of where that plug will reach to if you stretch it. Are there any red wiress with a plug on it around there? If so, it would be a safe bet that that is where it belongs. If there is no wire there, check the back of the relay socket, disconnect the old red wire, and run you a new one.
I hope this helps out and is the answer you were asking for. If you get this fixed and it still is acting up, and you would like more assistance, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for the question and good luck in everything. If you found this answer useful, please remember to rate this answer.
