Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1976 Chevy pickup S20 - 3/4 ton Silverado, little prong, blown fuse

Question
I recently had my AC checked/recharged, it worked VERY well, till last week.
When I turn it on the solenoid doesn't 'click' in. I'm not sure how to check for a
loose wire???? or a blown fuse?? or ??? Can you help??

Answer
Hey Ken,

To check for a blown fuse first locate the fuse box and from there just take a test light (if you have one) and to connect it a known good ground then go from fuse to fuse and if the test light lights up its good. Now for a broken wire that can be a little tricky if your not familiar with tracing wires. Lucky for you theres not a hole bunch of wires on this truck. Now checking for a loose or broken wire, at the a/c compressor there should be a single wire going to the clutch and that plugs in on a little prong just check it a make sure its a snug clean connection. You can also pull the wire and with a test light find a good ground and probe the wire then switch on the a/c and see if the test light lights up and if it does you have power and thats good, you might not have to do this because its usually a blown fuse. If you have any trouble with this give me a shout and I'll be happy to help with any more questions.
