Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Location of low pressure port on GMC Safari, gmc safari, haynes manual

Question
I have a 1998 GMC Safari, and want to recharge the A/C. Though I'm fairly certain that the low pressure port is located on the accumulator itself (since this is the only port the recharge hose fits onto), my Haynes Automotive Manual says to connect the hose onto "the evaporater inlet pipe fitting." To avoid having the can explode in my hand, I just want to make sure where the low pressure port is. Thank you.

Answer
Jesus,
You are exactly right. The low side pressure port is on the accumulator. The reason the Haynes manual states "the evaporator inlet pipe fitting"  is because the "right way" to charge the system is as a liquid to the amount stated on your hood, into the high side of the system. After the system has been evacuated with a vaccuum pump.
But if youre just topping off... you will charge it as a vapor into the low side.
Hope I helped a bit, thanks for the question. If you need anything more, don't hesitate to ask.
