Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1995 buick roadmaster Lt1 motor, buick roadmaster, 1995 buick roadmaster

Question
Where would I find the orifice and is there more than one?

Answer
Kerry,
The orifice tube is located at the inlet of the evaporator. You can find the evaporator typically on the passenger side of the car in / under the dash. It will be mounted with your blower motor. On many vehicles if you take out the glove box, you will be able to see what you are doing a little better. I do not know about the roadmaster.

If you are asking for the purpose of trying to change it yourself, I highly discourage it unless you have been EPA 609 certified and have a little background in A/C systems, for the simple fact that you will have to recover all of the refrigerant from the system, prior to even accessing it. It is inside the tubing itself. You will not be able to access it without opening a refrigerant line. After replacement, you will need to pull the system into a vacuum for about 30 minutes and then recharge.
There is only one for your car, however on larger vehicles such as an SUV that has the rear air and front air, it does have two. It is necessary for each evaporator to have it's own metering device. (orifice tube in this instance)
Hope I was able to help - good luck.
