Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 95 Accord heater core issue, engine cooling system, heater hoses

Question
Hi David,

I recently had a problem with white sweet smelling residue (coolant) coming out from my vents. I know it has to deal with the heater core, but I didn't have the money to replace it. So my mechanic decided to just disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core. The white looking steam is gone, but the sweet smell still remains. Will replacing the heater core with a new one fix this problem? Or could something else be causing this problem. Thanks in advance.

Answer
HELLO WARREN,NO PROBLEM UNTIL WINTER TIME COMES. YOU JUST HAVE RESIDUE IN THE HEATER HOUSING - IT`S OK..JUST A NOTE,BE SURE YOUR ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM IS CLEAN. THIS COULD BE A INDICATION OF SOME FUTURE COOLING PROBLEMS. PREVENTION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AT THIS...

GOOD LUCK,DAVIDT
