Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2001 Chevy Tahoe Weak AC, chevy tahoe, acura tl

Question
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe LS 4wd - am the original owner - it has 101,436 miles and i have never been happy with the air conditioning system - most recently at outside temps of 95-100 degrees it blows slightly cool air but not cold air (in the city and on the freeway alike) - at outside temps of 85-95 it blows cool air until i take it on the freeway then it gets acceptably cold but still not real cold - bottom line; at outside temps of 85-100 it is useless for city driving and only marginal on the freeway - i had it serviced last year at the dealer and just today - they evacuated and recharged the system, replaced the accumulator, replaced high pres fitting, replaced cycle switch and complete charge of the system with a new hepa filter and topped off freon - they said the compressor is fine - to me, it just does not feel like the cold air i get from my wife's 2006 Acura TL AC or the even the AC i had on the 2005 Silverado rental i had last week - and it does not feel like the air flow is strong even at the highest setting - could it be a fan issue? a belt issue? do i have unrealistic expectations or is there a history of weak AC units for this model year? what are my options? would replacing with an aftermarket be suggested? how much do they run? would i be able to get a stronger unit? i also have the rear AC unit in this vehicle and it too is as weak as the front - this is the second time i have had it looked at (costing a total of $1200.00 on air conditioner issues alone for last year and this year) - can you help? thanks for your time - wayne

Answer
Hello Wayne,There`s a possiblity the system may be undercharged and or it wasn`t evacuate properly. As for the blower force of air-it could be clogged with debris against the evaporator coil. That will restrict air flow thru the vents and also reduce the cold air performance.Your wifes a/c is totally a different type of controls and can`t truely be compaired.Have those items checked by the dealer
because of unsatisfactory performance after work done.
Ask to speak to service manager or shop lead tech.
PS I work for a Lexus dealer so ask question."the barking dog gets fed first".
