Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 91 chevy silverado a/c, gm trucks, chevy silverado

i have a 1990 silverado 150 2 wheel drive..the air works perfect most the time.. but sometimes the a/c quits ...when this happens the a/c light on control panel in truck flashes..if you disconect the battery under hood a/c will work fine again for a weeks or maybe 5 minutes

Aloha Eric,GM trucks have two areas that cause this concern.Check low pressure switch that is located on or near the accumulator. Switch may be defective. Second is the main a/c panel.If you have the digital display type you may have a short in the controller that may affect the a/c compressor relay that feeds current to a/c clutch.I have replaced controllers and relays to correct the concern.Since this is electric problem I would recommend a
good a/c shop to correct. Please inform me of your results
