Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1999 Ddodger Ram 1500 Van A/C Blows Cold, dodge ram van, ocld

Question
My 1999 Dodge ram Van 1500 Conversion's A/C appears to be working fine, blowing ocld but it switched randomly from the dash vents to the defroster vents or floor vents, sometimes if I let off the accelerator it switches back but not always, any ideas?

Thanks,

Robert

Answer
Aloha Robert, Very common Dodge a/c problem with vaccum actuators that control your selector vent doors. What you have a lost of vaccum during acceleration. This may be caused by a broken vaccum hose that feeds the actuators in your dash. Have all vaccum hoses that come off the engine intake inspected for splits or cracks.Check the vaccum check valve and vaccum canister for vaccum lost. Hoses are high on the list of failure. There may be one main hose that comes in thru the firewall and feeds vaccum to the dash. Please inform me of your findings.
