Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Heater and AC Vacuum Control Valve, vacuum control, vacuum leak

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy s-10 (4.3L V6 with W VIN) that I am trying to fix the AC on.  I have a few problems.  I have an audible vacuum leak from the vacuum control valve (which I assume is the reason my damper doors won't switch positions anymore and always blows out the defrost vents).  It seems that the vacuum hose connector that conects to the vacuum control valve is warped slightly as the leak goes away when I force it on tighter, as well as it visually looks like it's warped slightly.  Problem is that I CAN'T seem to find that connector anywhere online so I can replace it.  Also, the second problem is recharging the AC.  I followed instructions on how to properly recharge, and it seemed like it worked, temporarily. Hot air used to blow out, after the recharge it was cool again, then it went back to hot again after letting the vehicle run for a while.  I reinstalled the PSI guage, because I assumed I must have a leak, but the PSI then read approx. 110 PSI (I filled it to 45 PSI before detaching the refigerant).  Of course I was freaked and released the pressure to prevent any possible damage it may cause.  Why did the PSI jump so high?   Also, I've read other questions where the expert mentions to check the compressor oil level to see if more PAG oil needs to be added when recharging the system with R-134.  Where is this checked at?  I don't want to add just refrigerant if oil is also needed.  I can't seem to find anywhere on the compressor where it could be checked.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hello owner of S-10, The a/c selector switch is available from the dealer.Parts department have pictures for you to view and order. They want your business, times are bad. That system to recharge full charge is 2.25lbs. Oil capacity is about 6 to 8oz. Oil can be added when the a/c is open for repairs. It can also be injected in with special equiptment. With gauges on and a/c off your standing psi is 90psi.When a/c is on,psi on the LOW-side should be around 30psi and HIGH-side is about 190 to 205psi at 1200rpm.If this is not happening you obviously got some issues. I need more psi readings to further diagnosis the a/c. Write back asap.
