Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Where do I check my AC valve, electronic leak detector, presure valve

Question
Hi, I have a 99 expedition EB 2wd.  I want to recharge my AC myself but I dont know what to do.  Where is the low presure valve located and how does it look like?  I just bought the complete set (around $60.00.  If im not mistaken, is it by the radiator on the passenger side?  It has a black cap on it.  And what is the one with a green cap near the firewall on the driver side? It say EVAC only. Please can you help me out the best you can.  This is my first time doing this and dont want to mess up.  Thanks,

Answer
Your first major problem is going to be that you will have to purchase or borrow a VACUUM PUMP in order to evacuate all the remaining freon from the A/C system because you most likely have a FREON leak in one of the hoses or components that make up the A/C system.

This is why you have a GREEN cap that says EVAC (EVACUATE) on it.

Your next problem is going to be that you will have to purchase or borrow an ELECTRONIC LEAK DETECTOR in order to find the leak and repair it BEFORE you evacuate the system and recharge the system with refrigerant oil and freon.

Then you need to know EXACTLY how much REFRIGERANT OIL and FREON that your particular A/C system requires in order to operate correctly.

Unless you know how and what all the above requirements mean, You will not get your system into proper 100% operation.
