Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: blend door not opening, electric actuator, vacuum lines

Question
-The AC/Stereo panel I refer to are the AC controls. On the taurus the ac controls and stereo are all integrated into one panel. You have to replace the entire unit as one. As far as the vacume, the shop told me that the blend door is directly connected to the ac control panel via an electrical connection not a vacume. When I replaced the blend door, there was no vacume connection.------------------------

I have a 1999 Taurus with 40,000 miles. The ac has always blown cold until recently. The compressor is cycling and the hoses under the hood are ice cold, however the air inside blows hot. I was told it could only be the blend door actuator or the ac/stereo panel on the dash. I replaced both and still have the problem. The blend door is not operating. I connected the electrical plug to the new actuator before installing it to make sure the door wasnt stuck and it still did not respond when switching from heat to ac. PLEASE HELP. Thank you.

This makes no sense:

I was told it could only be the blend door actuator or the ac/stereo panel on the dash.

THE A/C STEREO PANEL on the dash ????.

Without performing the numerous test procedures using the special test equipment, The FIRST thing that you need to make sure of is that you have vacuum to one or more of the vacuum lines on the vacuum block that also connects to the A/C actuator.

Answer
OK, The manufacturers keep changing the actuator controllers from vacuum to electyric to vacuum and electric. It is almost impossible to keep up with all the changes.

Then you need to use a volt meter to see if you are getting varying voltages to the damper door electric actuator. If you are NOT getting any voltage signal variations as you change the temperture degrees vis the control head than the control head is your most likely suspect.

however, If you ARE getting varying voltage signals to the electric actuator, then the most likely cause is a faulty electric actautor at the damper door.
