Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Air conditioning, pontiac montana, vacuum line

Question
2001 Pontiac Montana ~little over 100,000 miles
I brought my van in to have AC checked for leaks. Had it filled a couple times previously.
All they did was fill it again. So 1 day later when I brought it back they did a visual check and said it was leaking at the condenser. So I had them replace the condenser but now there is not much air flow presure coming out the vents. It does feel cool but could be colder. It sounds like it is blowing out hard but it is not. The side vents by the door almost have no air coming out of them. The back vents seem to blow out but not real cold. Now he said maybe a filter in the evaporater is plugged.I believe the Air flow was fine before the condenser was put in.
Can you help?

Answer
I see no relationship between the condensor replacement and your current problem.

It is possible that he may have pinched a vacuum line somewhere in his work area and I would loook around in this work area to see if you see anything strange.

The coldness of the air flow can be caused by a possible restriction in the orifice tube (expansion valve) whereas something such as a piece of paper of foreign debris was in the condensor and he did not blow out the condensor before installing it and this debris is now stuck in the orifice tube.

Put the system on LOW blower speed and put a thermometer in the center dash vent and increase the engine speed to about 1500 rpm's and while maintaining the engine speed see if the thermometer reads about 35 to 40 degrees. If it DOES, your air temp is just fine.
