On our 1998 Astro Van AWD the air conditioning just stops, totally for a day or two.I took it to the garage they said it was the fan motor, so they replaced it. It did it again i stop at the parts store and changed all of  relays, nothing happened still did not work so I put back the old relays, the next day it starts running again for several weeks, does it again 5 days ago so take it to the garage they said it was as the fan resostat (4 position on off switch), this was not it. So they then said it was the control module switch's on the dash. So this was changed out and the problem is still there the unit will only run in 1, 2, 3, but not high, now they say the fan wire is awful hot, i plugged in a new fan and there is still no change, it still will not work in #4 speed.
Don't need a parts changer i got one of those need a good mech.
Any suggestions.

I just ordered a blower motor resistor and it will be in Tuesday this is my idea of what is most likey wrong, as it can burn out any 1 or more running postions and others will still work.
Thanxs

You stated:

Define the word UPS.

Rewrite the question with all the parts that you changed and leave out the UPS.

Answer
It won't be the blower motor resistor as the resistor is ONLY used for all speeds EXCEPT for HIGH SPEED as this resistor is by-passed when the dash switch is set on HIGH.

You most likely have a wire connection probelm in the a/c circuit. If you have had any previous work done within the last 6 months unrelated to the A/C, I would check this area where previous work was done for loose connections.
