Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC - Too much high side pressure, jeep cherokee, accurate diagnosis

Question
My compressor on my 1992 Jeep Cherokee went out. 4.0L. I replaced the compressor and accumulator/dryer. The compressor is a rebuilt one. I flushed the system and replaced all o-rings. I brought it in to the service station to have it evacuated and charged. They told me that it was getting too much high side pressure and that the low side pressure was fine. They told me that the expansion valve/block was likely bad. I replaced that and brought it back in. They said that the same problem exists. They told me that I probably got a bad compressor.

I would like a second opinion before I try for round two.

Thanks in advance -

Answer
You most likely have to much refrigerant oil within the A/C system.

The amount of refrigerant oil that you re-install into the system when you replace a compressor depends upon the method you used to FLUSH out the system.

If you did a professional flush, whereas you flushed out all of the refrigerant oil and debris from all of the other components or simply just blew out the lines with air pressure determines how much refrigerant oil that you re-install.

If you did not perform a professional flush, I would remove the expansion valve and inspect it for a blockage.

It is also possible that you got a bad compressor.

Without personally seeing this problem, An accurate diagnosis is difficult to determine.
