Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C on Chevy Venture Van, chevy venture van, chevy venture

Question
I had my evaporator and dryer replace because of a hole in the evaporator.  Now, it doesn't cool as well as it should.  Mechanic said the compressor is rattling and the high and low pressure sides are both above their specs.  Does this indicate needing a new expansion valve.  It seem to me that if the high pressure side is too high the low pressure should be below spec.  Don't understand why they're both above the pressures they should be unless there's too much refrigerant or the valve needs replacing.

Thanks

Answer
Not knowing IF the repair was done properly, I can ONLY go by what you tell me.

I is NORMAL practice to replace the orfice tube/expansion valve whenever you have to replace an evap.

Could be orfice tube/expansion valve and or to much freon.
